A church for people of all ages in the heart of the community

Church Services are suspended until further notice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the next few weeks and months St Matthew and St Luke's will be live streaming services through Facebook live. Our Facebook page can be found here.

We will be holding special services for Holy Week and Easter  including a Live streamed Family Agape on Wednesday, and a time for reflections on Good Friday.

Throughout Holy Week Fr. Cameron will be leading a daily reflection on the Psalms over at the  St Mary's Cockerton Facebook page

On Easter Day insomniacs are welcome to join in a Dawn Service starting at 5am on the  Durham Cathedral  Facebook page.

If you haven’t been to church for a long time or at all, here’s what to expect at our main Sunday morning service.

Our Types of Church Service

Sunday Services

Holy Communion or Morning Prayer. This is a quiet, spoken service, in contemporary language.

This is the main service on most Sundays and caters for people of all ages. We offer a warm and friendly welcome and most services are followed by a cup of coffee.

5th Sunday of the month: ‘Cafe Church’ at St Matthew and St Luke’s or Pierremont Methodist Church on Vancouver Street. This is an informal service with the opportunity for discussion, held jointly with Pierremont, with the venue alternating.

2nd Sunday of the month: Holy Communion
All other Sundays: Sunday Worship, in a variety of styles.

Wednesday Service

Holy Communion. This is a spoken service in traditional language, always followed by fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits.
