Many people like to hold the funerals of their loved ones in church, followed by a brief committal at the graveside or the crematorium. Alternatively the whole service can take place at the crematorium. The Funeral Director will usually contact the minister who will meet with the family to plan the service.

Interment of Ashes

We have a memorial garden behind St Matthew & St Luke’s, where it is possible to inter ashes. We hope that the garden may make it easier for relatives to visit their loved one’s resting place. Please contact the Church Office if you would like to discuss having your loved one’s ashes interred in our garden.

Memorial Services

At the beginning of every November we hold a memorial service. During this service we thank God for the lives of those who have meant so much to us, light candles to remember our loved ones, and hear their names read out.

If you would like someone remembered by name at our next service, no matter how long ago they passed away, please contact the church office.

If you would like to remember someone who has died by arranging or providing the flowers in church on a particular date, or if you would like a chair in church dedicated in your loved ones name, please contact the Church Office.

If you have lost someone you love and you would like to talk about it, please contact the Vicar or Pastoral Assistant via the Church Office.
